Enzo Le Fee has committed his long-term future to Sunderland by signing a five-year contract that keeps him at the Stadium of Light till 2031.
Le Fee penned a new contract on improved terms to fend off admirers and interest from opposition clubs for the talented attacking midfielder. It is part of Sunderland’s strategy to tie key players to longer deals on better terms, after Robin Roefs signed an extension earlier this summer.
Enzo Le Fee joined Sunderland on loan from AS Roma in January 2025 and helped the club gain promotion to the English Premier League at the end of the season. The loan deal was made permanent before the start of the 2025/2026 season by activating the £19m buy option clause included in his contract as he became Sunderland’s first signing upon their return to the English top flight.
Le Fee was an influential figure for Roger Le Bris’s side in his first full season in England, firing Sunderland to a seventh-place finish and securing a historic UEFA Europa League qualification at the end of the season for the Black Cats.
The 26-year-old French midfielder has scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists across 64 appearances for the club. Le Fee etched his name into Sunderland’s folklore by scoring the club’s first European goal in 53 years in their Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar in September.
Enzo Le Fee expressed great pride and immense happiness at the contract extension in a statement.

Enzo Le Fee’s clutch penalty against AZ secured a 1-0 victory at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland’s first European match in 53 years. He became the club’s first goalscorer in Europe since Micky Horswill in October 1973.
