Auburn’s season opener at Baylor moved to Friday, Aug. 29

Auburn football fans will get the chance to watch their team’s first game before the remaining SEC fan bases.

Brett McMurphy of Action Network reported Thursday that Auburn will open its 2025 season at Baylor on Friday, Aug. 29 at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas. At the time of this post, Auburn will be the first team from the SEC to play a game in the 2025 season, and will join South Carolina by not opening the season on Saturday, Aug. 30. The Gamecocks will face Virginia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, Sept. 1 in the annual Aflac Kickoff Game, one day after Tennessee battles Syracuse inside the same venue.

Auburn’s date with Baylor begins a two-year, home-and-home contract with Baylor. The Tigers will face the Bears to open the 2025 season in Waco, with Baylor returning to Jordan-Hare Stadium for a game in 2026. According to Baylor athletics, the 2025 season-opener will mark the fifth time Auburn and Baylor have met on the gridiron, and the first since 1976 when Baylor escaped the Plains with a 15-14 win. Auburn is 1-2-1 all-time against Baylor.

Although the date of the game is officially known, a network and kickoff time have yet to be announced for the game between Auburn and Baylor.
