Bruno Fernandes
Bruno Fernandes In response to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s claim that certain Manchester United players receive excessive compensation, Bruno Fernandes told the British billionaire that “the club agrees to do the contracts.”
Throughout a series of interviews this week, Ratcliffe complimented Fernandes, calling the United captain a “great footballer.”
Other members of the team, however, were labeled as “overpaid” and “not good enough.”
Fernandes defended his teammates on Thursday after scoring a hat trick to help the squad defeat Real Sociedad 5-2 on aggregate in the Europa League.
“Obviously, it is not pleasant to hear some things,” Fernandes remarked. “I do not believe that any player enjoys hearing criticism or being told that they are overpriced, inadequate, or anything else.

“Everyone has a contract of their own. The club agrees to execute the contracts when you arrive, when you sign a new contract, or at any other point in time, and it is all about you demonstrating your value to the team.”
Although Ratcliffe praised Fernandes last week, Roy Keane has been harshly critical of the Portugal player.
Fernandes “is not a fighter,” according to the former United captain, who also told the 30-year-old that “potential is not enough.”
With six goals in his previous six games, Fernandes has been essential for Ruben Amorim’s team during a period of bad play. Additionally, he has contributed directly to 11 of United’s previous 13 goals.
After the victory over Real Sociedad, Fernandes was given the opportunity to answer to Keane, but he claimed that his performances were the only thing he could do to change Keane’s opinion.
“As everyone says, Roy Keane was one of the club’s greatest captains. Everyone has a great deal of respect for him, and I do too. This is his view about me, which he must express in a program.
On the field, I am attempting to persuade him to change his position or to do something that he likely views favorably. Naturally, I do things my own way because I do not want to imitate anyone.
“It is okay that I have a lot of room for improvement—not just as captain, but also as a player, a person, and a human being.
“There will always be criticism, and it will help me grow and realize that I still have a long way to go.”
He stated, “Everyone has an opinion, and that is good.” “I am unable to influence people’s opinions. As if my only responsibility is to play on the field and give the team my best effort.
