LUKA DONCIC Since joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Luka Doncic has made it obvious that winning the title is his top priority. The AllStar guard strengthened his hopes of winning a title Thursday after defeating the New York Knicks 113-109 in overtime. “Obviously, winning the championship is the aim. In a post-game interview, Doncic stated, “There are no other goals than that.” Doncic discussed what he believes makes the difference in pivotal situations when questioned about the Lakers’ strategy for comebacks. Being more physical is the first step. In the fourth quarter, we were physical, got stops, and were just playing our basketball offensively. The Lakers had to overcome a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but they won 19–6 thanks to Doncic, James’ free throws, and Gabe Vincent’s game-winning three-pointer. Doncic also discussed the team’s chemistry. Since joining the Lakers, he has been averaging 23.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.1 assists.
