Inter Milan has advanced to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals after a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the San Siro on April 16, 2025. The result secured a 4-3 aggregate victory for the Nerazzurri, marking their first semi-final appearance since 2010.

The match began with Bayern Munich pressing for an early advantage. Their efforts paid off in the 52nd minute when Harry Kane opened the scoring, becoming the English player to score against the most different teams in Champions League history. Kane’s goal surpassed Paul Scholes’ previous record of scoring against 20 different teams.

Despite his individual achievement, Bayern Munich failed to progress, losing 4-3 on aggregate after goals from Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez and Benjamin Pavard turned the tide. Although Eric Dier scored a header to give Bayern late hope, it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit, and Kane’s wait for a major club trophy continues.

Inter responded swiftly. In the 58th minute, Lautaro Martínez capitalized on a corner to level the score. Just three minutes later, former Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard headed in another corner, putting Inter ahead 2-1.

Bayern fought back, and in the 76th minute, Eric Dier scored with a header to equalize. Despite their efforts, Bayern couldn’t find the decisive goal needed to advance.

Inter will face Barcelona in the semi-finals, aiming to replicate their 2010 treble-winning campaign.

This victory underscores Inter’s resurgence on the European stage, with manager Simone Inzaghi’s tactical prowess guiding them through a challenging quarter-final tie.
