LeBron James is nearing a season debut with the Los Angeles Lakers and is in line to potentially appear in the upcoming matchup against the Utah Jazz. The 40-year-old veteran, sidelined since the preseason due to sciatica, practised with both the Lakers’ G League affiliate and the main squad last week.

Coach JJ Redick confirmed that James took part in Monday’s full squad practice, though he indicated that the game-day decision remains “to be determined.”

Despite James’ absence, the Lakers have opened the 2025-26 campaign strongly, carrying a 10-4 record into the matchup and leaning on impressive efforts from teammates Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves.

If LeBrontakes the court, he will make NBA history by becoming the first player ever to play in 23 consecutive seasons.

His return could provide a significant lift for the Lakers as they look to sustain their promising start and integrate one of the game’s all-time greats back into the lineup.
