The Toronto Raptors secured their place in the knockout round of the NBA Cup after a commanding 140–110 victory over the Washington Wizards on Friday night. This win made them the first team this season to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.
Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett both scored 24 points, while Scottie Barnes added 23, 18 of which came in the second half. Reserve Sandro Mamukelashvili also made a major impact with a season-high 23 points, and Immanuel Quickley contributed 17.
With the win, the Raptors improved to 3–0 in their NBA Cup group, extending their current win streak to six games. Their plus-30 point margin of victory was their biggest of the season, surpassing an earlier 28-point win.
On the other side, the Wizards continue to struggle. They dropped their 13th straight game and remained winless in the Cup. CJ McCollum led Washington with 20 points, and Tre Johnson added 14 off the bench, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.
Toronto leapt ahead early, opening the game with an 11–2 run and never looking back. By halftime, they already held a double-digit lead, and they blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Washington 48–30. Key injuries for the Wizards — including Alex Sarr (toe) and Marvin Bagley III (hip) — limited their ability to mount a comeback.
This milestone marks the first time in franchise history that the Raptors have advanced past the group stage of the NBA Cup. With the quarterfinals now in view, Toronto will aim to build on this momentum as they continue their Cup campaign.
