Notre Dame women’s basketball fans are well familiar with the names Jackie Young, Jewell Loyd and Arike Ogunbowale. All three players thrived with the Irish and have continued to find success in the WNBA. Now, they’ll be coming back to the place where league scouts took notice of them.
The Las Vegas Aces have announced that they will face the Dallas Wings in a preseason game May 2 at Purcell Pavilion. Young and Loyd are members of the Aces, and Ogunbowale has played her entire career with the Wings.
The three players have collected a combined four WNBA championships, four Olympic gold medals, 13 All-Star selections and three All-Star Game MVP awards. Even if you aren’t an Irish fan, although you probably are if you’re reading this site, this is a great opportunity to watch some of the best players that women’s basketball has to offer. The Wings, who have the first pick in the upcoming draft, likely will have Paige Bueckers, too:
The trio figures to be enthusiastic for what should be a nice homecoming.
