Tiger Woods, in collaboration with Augusta National Golf Club, has announced a significant initiative aimed at enhancing golf accessibility and educational opportunities in Augusta, Georgia. This partnership encompasses the design of a new nine-hole short course and the establishment of an educational center for local youth.
Designing ‘The Loop at the Patch’
Woods and his design firm, TGR Design, will revamp the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, affectionately known as “The Patch.” The project includes creating “The Loop at the Patch,” a nine-hole, par-3 course honoring the legacy of Augusta National caddies. The course is scheduled to open in April 2026.
Establishing the TGR Learning Lab
In addition to the course redesign, Woods‘ nonprofit organization, the TGR Foundation, will launch a TGR Learning Lab in Augusta. Located in the former Lamar Elementary School in the Harrisburg neighborhood, the lab will focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. Opening in 2028, it aims to serve students from the Richmond County School System and surrounding areas.
Community Impact and Vision
Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to enrich the community by providing affordable golf experiences and educational resources. Woods shared his excitement, stating, “Partnering with Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is truly special.” He emphasized his commitment to giving back to Augusta, a city that has played a significant role in his career.
Tiger Woods’ Current Health Status
It’s important to note that Woods is currently recovering from surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, which has kept him out of the 2025 Masters Tournament. Despite his absence from competitive play, he remains deeply involved in initiatives that benefit the Augusta community.
