LSU football’s offensive line will look different in 2025. Will Campbell and Emery Jones held both tackle spots for three years. Now, both are off to the NFL after declaring for the draft. On the interior, LSU is losing Garrett Dellinger and Miles Frazier. It’s a lot of change for one offseason, especially after the continuity LSU benefitted from in 2023 and 2024.
LSU feels good about its offense with senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier returning, sophomore running back Caden Durham, and a handful of explosive wide receivers. The question is up-front.
LSU landed two key offensive line transfers, but the Tigers will be inexperienced elsewhere on the unit. LSU is counting on a couple of its top offensive line recruits to have a breakout campaign.
Today, we’ll look at who LSU trusts at the right tackle position. Jones gave LSU consistent production there. Replacing it won’t be easy.
Here are LSU football’s three options at right tackle.
Josh Thompson (Northwestern transfer)

Thompson is a shoe-in to start, we just don’t know where. He’s a veteran and at Northwestern, he played right guard and right tackle. Per On3, Thompson was the No. 23 ranked transfer in the 2025 portal class.
Thanks to his versatility, Thompson’s position at LSU may depend on where LSU trusts its younger players to play.
If LSU has two young guards it trusts, Thompson will play tackle. If Tyree Adams and Weston Davis emerge as options at tackle, Thompson will play guard.
Thompson was one of the Big Ten’s best offensive linemen in 2024 and is already comfortable on the right side given that’s where he started the last two years. Thompson is LSU’s best option at right tackle as long as the veteran isn’t needed on the left side.
Weston Davis
Takeaways from Day 4 of #LSU Camp:
– Freshman Ju’Juan Johnson is running as the backup STAR.
– Weston Davis won a 1v1 rep against Da’Shawn Womack.
– Rickie Collins is progressing well this offseason. Competing for QB2.

Davis is the wildcard in LSU’s offensive line equation. He only played 20 snaps as a true freshman in 2024, but according to On3, he was a five-star and the No. 4 ranked tackle in the class. The recruiting industry consensus wasn’t quite that high on Davis with 247Sports slotting Davis as the No. 13 ranked tackle in the class.
Davis was a part of LSU’s jumbo package in the bowl win over Baylor, but didn’t see any other meaningful snaps in 2024.
Davis played 11 snaps at right tackle in LSU’s blowout win over Alabama. He looked raw, especially as a run blocker, but the natural explosiveness is there. He was solid in limited pass protection reps, too.
As far talent goes, Davis is one of the top players on LSU’s roster. If he takes another step, he’s in the conversation at right tackle.
Tyree Adams
“Weston Davis, Tyree Adams, Coen Echols, Kylan Billiot, Dashawn Spears, Javien Toviano”
Brian Kelly drops these names and says there are 6-7 others to look out for tomorrow in the Texas Bowl.

Adams is more likely to end up at left tackle or left guard, but he’s worth noting here. He played 26 snaps at right guard in 2024, so he has some experience on the right side of the line.
When Will Campbell opted out of the bowl game, it was Adams that got the start at left tackle. That speaks to LSU’s trust in Adams and offers insight about where he stands entering 2025. This is a player Brian Kelly and company have high hopes for.
The Louisiana native was a four-star recruit in the class of 2023 and will look to have a breakout year in 2024, no matter the position he ends up at.
