Frisco, Texas – June 23, 2025 – Australia’s Minjee Lee, 29, claimed her third major championship Sunday by winning the Women’s PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East. The victory secured a three-stroke margin over Auston Kim and Chanettee Wannasaen and reignited her ambitions for both a career grand slam and LPGA Hall of Fame induction.

Breaking the Major Drought

Lee finished the tournament at –4 in challenging conditions—soaring temperatures and gusty winds—demonstrating grit by rebounding from early bogeys to clinch the win. The $1.8 million prize also marked her return to major glory after a 19-month title drought.

Hall of Fame Goals & Career Grand Slam

Having previously triumphed at the Evian Championship in 2021 and the U.S. Women’s Open in 2022, Lee announced that her ultimate goal remains completing the career grand slam and securing a spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame.

Lee said:

“I really wanted to be in the Hall of Fame, that’s why I started golf, and that’s why I wanted to be on the LPGA Tour… seeing Lydia [Ko] do it…I’d really like to get there” .

Citing New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, recently inducted in 2024 after winning Olympic gold and three majors, Lee sees a clear pathway to follow.

Among Australia’s Elite

With three majors to her name, Lee becomes only the fourth Australian—male or female—to reach this milestone, joining Karrie Webb, Peter Thomson, and Jan Stephenson.

Her triumph places her firmly in Australia’s proud golfing tradition, and elevates her status among the country’s sporting elite.

Technical & Mental Overhaul

Lee spent much of early 2025 breaking the grip of a slump that included a final-round roadblock at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open. A shift in gear—most notably adopting a broom handle putter—coincided with her return to elite performance.

Her victory in Texas underscored both her technical refinement and mental resilience—traits that her brother, PGA Tour winner Min Woo Lee, highlighted, calling her game “built for the majors” and praising her mental composure.

What Lies Ahead

Lee now shifts her focus to the Chevron Championship, the next major opportunity that completes the LPGA’s grand slam slate. Beyond the majors, she needs consistent tour victories to accumulate the Hall of Fame point threshold—crafting a legacy that extends beyond isolated wins.

Why It Matters

  • Career Decision: Lee’s major win symbolizes a significant comeback and fuels her ambition to etch her name in golfing history.
  • Hall of Fame Route: Major wins yield two LPGA Hall of Fame points each—this latest title edges her closer to the point threshold.
  • Australian Icon: Joining a rarefied group of Aussie major champions solidifies her status on the national stage.
  • Persona & Progress: Emphasizing mental strength alongside technical skill positions Lee as a complete player.

The Road Ahead: Building a Legacy

Minjee Lee is no longer just chasing titles—she’s building a legacy. With her third major under her belt, she now stands at the crossroads of greatness. If she secures two more majors, that means both a career grand slam and near certainty of LPGA Hall of Fame induction. Her journey also highlights the changing face of women’s golf, where resilience, reinvention, and raw talent converge.
