The Toronto Raptors have ruled out wing RJ Barrett for at least one week after he suffered a right-knee sprain in Sunday’s 119–109 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
An MRI scan revealed there is no structural damage, according to the team. Barrett exited the game late in the third quarter after landing awkwardly following a breakaway dunk and did not return.
This will mark his first absence of the season. Before the injury, the 25-year-old was delivering a strong campaign — averaging 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists across 17 games, all starts.
With Barrett sidelined, the Raptors — currently riding a winning streak — may need to rely more heavily on others. Coach Darko Rajaković has already indicated that the team will explore alternative rotation options while Barrett recovers.
The injury timeline suggests Barrett could miss up to four games before the next team evaluation in a week’s time. In the meantime, the team’s depth will be tested — and their ability to maintain momentum without one of their key contributors could prove pivotal.
