Arsenal Make It Six Out of Six with Easy Win Over Club Brugge

Arsenal continued their imperious form in the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League with a commanding 3–0 victory over Club Brugge on Wednesday night, sealing six wins from six in the group stage and moving ever closer to automatic qualification for the knockout rounds.

The match at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges saw Arsenal’s attacking prowess on full display against a Club Brugge side struggling to find consistency under new management. Former Chelsea winger Noni Madueke was the standout performer, scoring twice to take his Champions League tally into double figures this season. His first goal came courtesy of a stunning long-range strike midway through the first half, curling into the top corner and giving Arsenal a deserved lead. He then added his second just after the interval, heading home from a well-placed Martin Zubimendi cross with the home defence flat-footed.

Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli wrapped up the scoring with a superb solo effort in the 56th minute, cutting inside from the left and firing a curling right-footed shot into the bottom corner. That goal also extended Martinelli’s remarkable scoring run, marking his fifth goal in five Champions League appearances this campaign.

Despite fielding a side affected by injuries, Arsenal’s depth was evident. Mikel Arteta made several changes from the weekend’s Premier League defeat to Aston Villa, but the team’s fluent attacking play and defensive solidity remained intact. Gabriel Jesus, back after nearly a year out through injury, made his first appearance in months as a second-half substitute, hitting the crossbar in the latter stages as he continues his return to full fitness. Arsenal also gave debut minutes to 16-year-old Marli Salmon at right-back, underscoring the club’s ongoing emphasis on youth development.

Club Brugge offered sporadic resistance, with a few chances in the first half and some attacking intent, but they lacked the cutting edge needed to trouble Arsenal’s defence. Their situation was compounded by off-field disruption earlier in the week — the surprise sacking of coach Nicky Hayen and reappointment of Ivan Leko — which appears to have unsettled the squad.

Arsenal’s perfect run puts them top of their Champions League group with 18 points, and they now look virtually certain to finish within the top eight in Europe’s premier club competition. That standing would secure automatic qualification to the last 16, avoiding the playoff round in February. The result also serves as a timely response to their domestic slip, reinforcing Arsenal’s credentials as serious contenders on both European and domestic fronts.

Overall, the win was a statement of intent from the Gunners — blending individual brilliance with collective consistency — and positions them favourably as they target silverware this season.
