Cristiano Ronaldo has finally done it. After years of frustration, heartbreak, and endless scrutiny over his move to Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese superstar has officially ended his five-year wait for a major club trophy after he sees Al Nassr FC crowned 2025-26 Saudi Pro League champions.

Al-Nassr sealed the championship with a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac FC on Thursday night, edging fierce rivals Al Hilal SFC by two points in one of the most dramatic title races Saudi football has seen in years.

And fittingly, Ronaldo delivered when the pressure was highest.

The 41-year-old scored a sensational brace on the final day to crown a memorable night for Jorge Jesus’ side and finally silence questions surrounding his time in Saudi Arabia.

The atmosphere inside Al-Awwal Park was tense from the opening whistle.

Al-Nassr knew only victory would crown them Saudi Pro League champions, especially with Al-Hilal winning simultaneously against Al-Fayha.

For long stretches, the nerves showed.

But champions always find moments of quality, and Al-Nassr’s experienced stars stepped forward exactly when needed.

Former Liverpool winger Sadio Mane opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a powerful header that settled the home crowd and gave Al-Nassr control heading into halftime.

Early in the second half, Kingsley Coman doubled the lead with a brilliant finish after exchanging passes on the edge of the box before firing emphatically into the far corner.

Damac briefly threatened to spoil the party when Morlaye Sylla converted a penalty to reduce the deficit.

But Ronaldo had saved the best moments for last.

Ronaldo’s Stunning Brace Sparks Wild Celebrations

With the title race still hanging in the balance, Ronaldo produced a moment worthy of a championship-winning season.

Standing over a free-kick from a seemingly impossible angle near the left touchline, the Portuguese icon drove a low strike toward goal. The ball somehow evaded everyone inside the box before sneaking into the far corner, sending the stadium into complete chaos.

The goal perfectly captured Ronaldo’s enduring ability to produce decisive moments when his team needs him most.

And he was not finished.

Late in the game, Ronaldo added his second of the night with a fierce close-range finish after another dangerous Al-Nassr attack, sealing the 4-1 victory and officially confirming Al-Nassr as Saudi Pro League champions.

As the final whistle sounded, Ronaldo celebrated wildly with team-mates and supporters who had waited years to see the club reclaim the league crown.

Being crowned Saudi Pro League champions carries enormous significance for Ronaldo personally.

Before Thursday night, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid CF, and Juventus superstar had gone five years without winning a major club trophy.

His last significant piece of silverware came with Juventus in 2021 when the Italian giants lifted the Coppa Italia.

Since arriving at Al-Nassr in January 2023, Ronaldo’s only success had come in the Arab Club Champions Cup, a competition many critics dismissed as unofficial or secondary.

That criticism followed him constantly.

Questions emerged over whether his move to Saudi Arabia had effectively ended his chances of competing for meaningful trophies again.

Now, those conversations look very different.

Ronaldo has finally delivered the trophy Al-Nassr supporters craved most: the Saudi Pro League title.

Al-Nassr are Saudi Pro League Champions After Painful AFC Final Defeat

Al Nassr are crowned Saudi Pro League Champions but what makes the achievement even more impressive is the pressure surrounding the club entering the final day.

Just days earlier, Al-Nassr had suffered heartbreak in the AFC Champions League 2 final after losing 1-0 to Gamba Osaka.

The defeat created fears that another season would end in disappointment despite Ronaldo’s goals and the club’s heavy investment in world-class talent.

Instead, Jorge Jesus’ side responded with composure and maturity.

Rather than collapsing under pressure, Al-Nassr produced one of their best attacking performances of the season when it mattered most.

The victory also brings the Saudi Pro League trophy back to Al-Nassr for the first time since 2019, ending years of frustration while breaking Al-Hilal’s dominance over domestic football.

At 41 years old, Ronaldo continues to defy logic.

Many expected his level to decline sharply by now, but the Portuguese captain finished the Saudi Pro League season with 28 goals, once again proving himself among the deadliest forwards in world football.

His influence extends far beyond statistics too.

Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo has transformed the visibility and global relevance of the league. His move opened the door for numerous elite European stars to join Saudi clubs, fundamentally changing perceptions of football in the region.

Now, with a league title finally secured, Ronaldo’s Saudi chapter suddenly feels complete in a way it never did before.

World Cup Dream Still Remains

Despite finally ending his club trophy drought, Ronaldo’s biggest ambition remains unfinished.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been included in Portugal national football team’s squad for the 2026 World Cup, where he will once again chase the one major trophy missing from his legendary career.

Portugal begin their campaign against DR Congo national football team on June 17 before facing Uzbekistan national football team and Colombia national football team in the group stage.

If Ronaldo carries his Al-Nassr form into the tournament, few would dare rule him out from producing yet another unforgettable football story.

For now, though, the drought is finally over.

Cristiano Ronaldo is once again a league champion.
