Chelsea vs Leeds produced one of the most extraordinary Carabao Cup nights of the season, as Chelsea recovered from two goals down to beat Leeds United 6-3 at Stamford Bridge and book their place in the fourth round.
The visitors looked firmly in control after Tarik Muharemovic and Brenden Aaronson gave Leeds a two-goal advantage, but Xabi Alonso’s second-half changes completely transformed the contest. The introduction of Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers, Pedro Neto and Reece James completely changed the game.
Chelsea had trailed 1-0 at half-time, but Leeds extended their advantage shortly after the restart when Aaronson finished following a move that began with Ethan Ampadu capitalising on a mistake from Barco.

Chelsea’s transformation continued as Palmer and Rogers combined to create another decisive moment.
Pedro Neto was released on the counter-attack and made no mistake, slotting the ball past Zetterer to complete Chelsea’s turnaround.
The Portugal international’s goal changed the scoreline from 2-2 to 3-2 and left Leeds suddenly chasing a match they had dominated for much of the first half.
Leeds almost responded immediately when James found himself in a one-on-one situation, but his effort went narrowly wide.
Instead, Chelsea continued to punish their opponents.
Welbeck added a fourth after turning inside the area and drilling a low finish beyond Zetterer, further underlining the impact of Alonso’s substitutions.
Rogers was central to Chelsea’s attacking revival, helping create four goals from open play during a sensational second-half performance.
Leeds refuse to surrender
Despite Chelsea’s remarkable turnaround, Leeds continued to fight. Dominic Calvert-Lewin briefly gave the visitors renewed hope when he guided Noah Okafor’s cross into the corner to make it 4-3.
With Chelsea’s defense still looking vulnerable, the possibility of another twist remained alive. But the hosts quickly restored their two-goal cushion.
Barco produced a powerful finish after another delivery from Rogers, making it 5-3 and effectively ending Leeds’ hopes of another comeback. There was still time for one final goal.

Alonso’s substitutions prove decisive
The biggest difference between the two halves was Chelsea’s ability to change the game from the bench.
Alonso’s decision to introduce Palmer, Rogers, Neto and James at the interval gave Chelsea greater quality and urgency in attack.
Palmer was particularly influential, scoring twice in a pivotal two-minute period, while Rogers became one of the defining figures of the comeback with his involvement in several goals.
The performance also demonstrated the strength available to Alonso as Chelsea attempt to compete across multiple competitions.
For Leeds, the defeat will be particularly painful because Farke’s heavily rotated team had performed impressively before Chelsea’s big names entered the contest.
