Allan and McAidoo complete City’s rout
City continued to dominate after Samba’s second goal, and Allan soon added another goal to his impressive evening.
The Brazilian had started the move for City’s opener by providing the cross for Samba, but he became a goalscorer himself in the 48th minute.
Allan showed quick feet to shift the ball onto his left foot before drilling a low finish into the net.
Norwich struggled to contain City as the hosts repeatedly found space in dangerous areas.
Ryan McAidoo then completed the scoring in the 90th minute, adding City’s fifth goal and putting the finishing touch on a comprehensive victory.
The visitors briefly thought they had found a consolation through substitute Mohamed Toure, who produced a composed finish beyond Geronimo Rulli.
However, the goal was ruled out for offside, allowing City to preserve a clean sheet on the Argentine goalkeeper’s debut.
City continue impressive recovery
The victory extended Manchester City’s winning run to six matches in all competitions after a difficult start to the campaign.
Maresca’s side had faced early questions after suffering a heavy defeat by Arsenal in the Community Shield, but their response since then has been emphatic.
