Guardiola Expects Man City to Thrive During Busy Schedule

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed confidence that his side can handle a demanding run of fixtures from November 25 to December 20, a stretch that includes eight games: two Champions League matches, five Premier League games, and a League Cup quarter-final.

City are coming off a 2–1 loss to Newcastle, but Guardiola insists this congested period is familiar territory. “We are used to it — we’ve won quadruples and trebles playing that way,” he said. He added: “We want it. The trebles and quadruples came … playing on Saturday and Tuesday, then Tuesday and Friday and Friday and Sunday.”

Although he has previously voiced concerns about fixture congestion — citing its effects on injury risk and mental fatigue — Guardiola is treating the upcoming stretch as an opportunity rather than a burden. He believes his squad, built for this kind of challenge, can re-emerge at their peak.

City currently sit in third place in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Arsenal. Pep optimism comes as he looks to steer the club back to their standards of sustained success, even in the face of a punishing schedule.
