Italy secured a historic third consecutive Davis Cup title with a 2–0 victory over Spain in the final held in Bologna.

Matteo Berrettini set the tone early, defeating Pablo Carreño Busta 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets. He fired 13 aces and showed no signs of nerves, extending his Davis Cup singles winning streak to 11 matches.

The deciding point came from Flavio Cobolli, who staged a remarkable comeback against Jaume Munar. After dropping the first set 1–6, Cobolli fought back to win 7-6(5), 7-5, securing the title in front of a raucous home crowd.

Italy achieved this triumph despite the absence of key players Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti. On Spain’s side, world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz was also missing.

This win marks fourth Davis Cup title overall, following their earlier successes in 1976, 2023, and 2024. Italy is now the first nation since the United States (1968–72) to win three straight Davis Cup finals under the modern format.

Captain Filippo Volandri expressed his emotion after Cobolli’s triumph, admitting he was moved to tears. The team’s depth and resilience were on full display as they clinched the title without relying on their top-ranked stars.
