Trevoh Chalobah has brought an emotional end to his long association with Chelsea after completing a move to Serie A side Como in a deal worth more than £30 million.

The 27-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ ambitious side, who are preparing for life in the Champions League after finishing fourth in Serie A last season. The transfer represents a significant step in Como’s rapid rise, while for Chalobah, it closes a remarkable chapter that began when he joined Chelsea as a nine-year-old.

Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7 million for the centre-back, with a further £5.1 million available through add-ons. The agreement followed prolonged negotiations between the two clubs before the final terms were settled.

Chalobah’s departure brings the curtain down on almost two decades with Chelsea, where he progressed through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the first team.

The defender made 151 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions and collected five trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge. Among those honors were the 2018 FA Cup and the 2025 Conference League.

His journey was not entirely spent in west London, however, as Chalobah gained valuable senior experience during loan spells with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, Lorient and Crystal Palace.

Those temporary moves helped develop the defender before he became a regular part of Chelsea’s senior setup, eventually earning international recognition with England.

Chalobah has won two senior England caps and was also a late call-up to the country’s World Cup squad, adding another significant milestone to a career that began in Chelsea’s youth system.

The move also gives Trevoh the chance to work with Fabregas again. The pair were briefly team-mates during Fabregas’ playing days at Chelsea, although their roles at the club have since changed considerably.

Fabregas is now responsible for guiding Como’s continued progress, while Chalobah arrives as an experienced defender expected to contribute immediately.
